PEDAGOGIE

I've had the pleasure of working with Valérie for ten years. The heart of his work joins my aesthetic ideal: by a full body, supple and connected to the air, we are looking for a rich and balanced heart of sound on all harmonic spectrum. The nature of the sound that Valérie makes me work is always related to the joy, freedom and pleasure of sensations.

Valérie is a true passion, singing and teaching, always looking to improve to better transmit. The dialogue with her is fluid, in sharing and the common desire to advance in the service of body and music.

"I have been working with Valérie Guillorit for 4 years now, and it is undoubtedly one of the most fulfilling jobs I do. Valérie is a very attentive teacher, with an exceptional instinct for singing and extraordinary sensitivity. Thanks to Valérie, I have discovered that it is never about proving or constructing a voice, but rather allowing the voice within us to flourish gently, through breath control, body openness, and a love for singing."

I had the privilege of taking singing lessons with Valérie, and I can only recommend her teaching. Her pedagogy is both attentive and tailored to each student, allowing progress at one's own pace while fully exploring vocal potential. Thanks to her great expertise and passion for music, each lesson is an enriching and motivating experience. Her caring and professional approach creates an ideal environment for artistic growth.

The work Valérie and I have done together, which I truly appreciate, is that we didn’t just stay on the surface to make things “sound pretty,” but rather sought the free sound that, in itself, is already a significant part of the music. It was a work on breath and vocal freedom, combining extreme precision—since Valérie has a very keen ear—while always remaining in the momentum of the music. As Valérie puts it: there isn’t a single note that shouldn’t be musical, even in a vocalise.

"What I particularly appreciate about her teaching is the sense of flexibility she brings to my singing. She encourages me to place a specific focus on the breath while never forgetting the rest of the "vocal machine." Her approach is comprehensive: she focuses on the torso and the pelvis, but also on the head, the mouth, the tongue and every little part of the body involved in the vocal gesture. She also pays attention to external movements, like those of the arms and hands, which often reflect internal mechanisms. Nothing escapes her. Thanks to her keen eye and work on proprioception, I am refining my body awareness and feeling more freedom in my voice. Moreover her reading recommendations also deepen my understanding of singing. At the end of each lesson, I leave with an exhilarating sense of fluidity, a voice that is both free and powerful, and an ever-growing desire to sing."

In Valérie’s classes, all aspects of the voice and body are brought to awareness, gently mastered, and then unified through coordinated work. With kindness, the rhythms of the body and the self are respected. The holistic approach does not hide any technical or musical weakness; learning takes place without pretension or dependency.
With Valérie, I worked on my voice, my life, and my being all at once.
I can now sing with joy, using a voice that resonates in harmony with and makes the most of my abilities. The technique allows me to explore any repertoire, style, or era I choose, and to be autonomous when performing. I’ve gained tremendous self-confidence. I also now have the ability to begin passing on what I’ve learned through teaching.
In short, what sets Valérie apart from many teachers is the excellence and completeness of her technical expertise, along with her global, holistic approach to the act of singing. But also, her personal qualities: generosity, humility, patience, kindness, and enthusiasm.

« I had the great fortune to meet Valérie at the very beginning of my vocal training in 2007. We worked together for four years, building the foundations of my technique. It was, of course, vocal work, but also deeply musical—always closely connected to the text and carried by the breath. Her approach to the voice is both healthy and gentle, and I recently had the pleasure of rediscovering it while working with her again. I owe her a great deal… »

"What a beautiful profession and passion it is to work on the sung breath, lyrical art, and to pass it on as it was passed to me, to the generation that takes on the repertoire and tradition.
For me, it’s about finding the path for each artist, knowing that each one is different in their sensitivity, level, being, and musical knowledge, which will enable them to sing in a 'free' way. This means where the balance between necessary tensions, the flexibility of the instrument, the breath, ease of support, text precision, and the spectrum of resonances allows the voice to become THEIR voice, where personality serves the understanding and embodiment of the happy marriage between text and music. It is this mastery that allows one to move others without being able to explain it; it is what flows from the artist to the audience and what the artist feels in return."
Mastering technique to allow musicality to develop without fear, this thanks to patience and love for the journey.
We speak of interpretation, depth, sobriety, and precision.
The voice is not visible, which is why mutual trust is necessary in order to accept and share the moments of doubt, repetition, rehabilitation, research to install physical sensations, also using the methods Feldenkrais, Chi Kung, and neuroscientific knowledge, which make the singers are armed at best to audition and invest the lyrical scenes, the profession.
We seek together and remain attentive.
Respect, love, and discipline are essential.
The body is already the whole voice, and the voice comes from the whole body.
